Damn! I was on the

Damn!

I was on the train back from Colchester today when I realized I had sat down opposite a girl I used to go to school with (St.Benedict's Colchester). The problem was other than her first name I couldn't remember anything about her and I'm fairly certain she knew very little of me. I spent about 45 minutes just going "What's her full name??" Funny how you forget things

Is not! Is too! Is not! Is too!

What happened to this country? Is noone capable of intelligent debate? I was watching some sort of question session on BBC 2 today and a load of people were asking questions of a high ranking minister on the prominent subject of the war on Iraq.

Now there might well be some arguments for the anti-war platform and valid points. But no-one seems to be capable of producing them! One person would ask a stupid outlandish question, the minister would give a rational answer and then would be bogged down in a tide of rhetoric and dogma from the audience. It was almost as bad as the Tony Blair question time last monday.

I would REALLY like to meet an anti-war activist who actually had a coherent argument and a rational system of debate. I like arguing and debating, its part of the reason why I want to be a barrister but even so it simply shouldn't be so much to ask for your opponent to have a well thought through argument. Ok so not in day-to-day life but on a frikkin' TV show you'd expect a semblance of intelligence and rational thought.

I mean its not like there is no standing for an anti-war movement. There has to be some, but no-one seems capable of illustrating it. Why should they call for constant proof from the leaders of England and the US when they themselves can't come up with any evidence to augment their own position.

Surely there was a point where protesters knew what they were actually protesting about.

Later!

John
